Well, KIF is what we at A New You call The Keto Diet and Intermittent Fasting… Done together.

Let’s break them down.  The Keto Diet is all the rage these days.  It is also known as The Ketogenic Diet, Low Carb High Fat Diet (LCHF), or a strict low-carb diet.

But what is it?  In a nutshell, the Keto Diet involves eating fewer carbohydrates and higher amounts of fat.  When you avoid sugar and starches, your blood sugar stabilizes and the levels of the fat-storing hormone insulin decreases.  This metabolic process increases fat burning and makes you feel more satisfied.  It allows the body to produce ketones, hence the name.  Ketones are produced if you eat very few carbs and a moderate amount of proteins.

Not only is the Keto Diet an excellent way to lose weight, it is also has several other health benefits, which include but not limited to the following:

Heart disease, Cancer,Alzheimer’s Disease, Epilepsy, Parkinson’s Disease, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), Brain Injuries, and Acne.

The KIF Diet the majority of your foods should include:

Meat, fatty fish, eggs, butter and cream, cheese, nuts and seeds, healthy oils, avocados, low-carb veggies, and spices and herbs.

On the Keto Diet, the following foods should be avoided to remain in ketosis:

Sugary foods, grains and starches, fruit, beans and legumes, root vegetables and tubers, low-fat or diet products, sugar containing condiments and sauces, unhealthy fats, alcohol, and sugar-free diet foods.

Keto Snacks include:

Fatty meat or fish, cheese, handful of nuts or seeds, cheese with olives, 1-2 hard boiled eggs, 90% dark chocolate, A New You low-carb Protein Shake, Full-Fat yogurt mixed with nut butter and cocoa powder, strawberries and cream, celery and salsa and guacamole, leftovers.

Now, the second part of the KIF diet is the Intermittent Fasting.


Intermittent Fasting is an eating style where you eat within a specific period of time, and fast for the rest of the time.  It is an extremely effective way to lose weight.

There are several ways to do Intermittent Fasting, some include:

5:2 – eat normally 5 days per week and the other 2 days you fast.  Fasting does not mean no calories, it simply means you eat between 500-600 calories for the day.

Eat-stop Eat – Restrict all food for 24 hours, once or twice per week

16/8 – All daily calories are taken within an 8 hour period.  This can be done everyday or just a few times per week.
